Introduction

Active Ingredients

Each vial contains: Tylosin (as tylosin tartrate)    2 g

Pharmacodynamic

Tylosin tartrate is a macrolide antibiotic that is active mostly against Mycoplasmas, and also against Gram-positive bacteria and some Gram-negative bacteria. The sensitive bacteria have Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogens, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Corynebacterium pyogenes.

Pharmcokinetic

After intramuscular administration tylosin is quickly absorbed. It is widely distributed to the organs and tissues of animals, the organs concentration after injection is higher than 2-3 times of that after oral administration. But it is not easy to penetrate into cerebrospinal fluid. The apparent volume of distribution for dogs and cattle are 1.7 L//kg and 1.1 L/kg, respectively. Tylosin concentration in milk is 20% of serum concentration. Unmetabolised tylosin is excreted in the urine and bile. The half-life of tylosin is 0.9 h in dogs and 0.95-2.3 h in calves, respectively.

Swine and poultry

For treatment of infections caused by Mycoplasmas and Gram-positive bacteria sensible to tylosin.

Dosage & Administration

Calculated on tylosin. Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection: swine and poultry: at the dosage of 5-13 mg/kg BW as a single injection.

Cautions

* Not for human use.

* Keep out of reach of children.

* May cause local irritation.

* Persons with a known hypersensitivity to tylosin should avoid exposure to this product.
